City Dress Code Manual Makes What NOT to Wear Clear

Dress code good vs bad WEB

It’s been a year since the employee work attire manual received a makeover – it’s time for a review of the guidelines. Why is the policy necessary? Most organizations (private and public sector) recognize the importance of conveying a consistent message to customers, clients and industry professionals. The Plano message, or brand, is conveyed through quality service and is reinforced visually by how you dress when conducting business.

The City’s Dress Code Policy and brochure are available online – see links below. Printed copies of the brochure are also available.

The policy offers flexibility in respect to your style and incorporates a business standard for appropriate attire. The document covers the “what” and the “when” of:

  • Business Professional Attire
  • Business Casual Attire
  • Body Ornamentation
  • Hairstyles and Makeup
  • Grooming Standards

The City encourages a business casual work environment. Anything you’d wear to a gym, to the beach or to do yard work is not suitable clothing for the workplace. Send questions or concerns regarding this matter to the Human Resources department at 972-974-7115.

Don’t be guided by the “feels like” temperatures of any season when dressing for work:
