Dental Coverage for Retirees over 65

Dental coverage for Seniors

It’s important to know what benefits you get from the government and what you’ll need to get on your own. The government offers Original Medicare, commonly referred to as Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. This is your guaranteed benefit. You also have options.

Retirees turning 65 and going on Medicare must come off of the City of Plano dental and vision plan.

Why Do I Need Dental Insurance If I Have Medicare?

Medicare does not cover dental expenses unless it is deemed medically necessary. That means you are on your own for this critical care. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer dental coverage, but in most cases you are better off shopping for the exact policy and coverage you need. Basic dental insurance plans are very economical, you can start and stop anytime, and it’s easy insurance to get.

Plans are available for you and your spouse to purchase through several reputable companies.

You may click on the link above (select your state) to choose the best dental plan for your needs.

Remember, you cannot use your service credits to purchase dental and vision coverage once you are on Medicare. These companies are totally self-funded by retiree.
