The Plano Senior Recreation Center hosts its annual Senior Information and Wellness Fair on Monday, May 21 and all older adults are invited. The event will be held at the Plano Event Center (2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May is recognized as National Older Americans Month (OAM), a time to focus on issues facing this group and appreciate the contributions they are still making in the world. The 2018 OAM theme is “Engage at Every Age.”
The fair provides a wealth of information for those of retirement and pre-retirement age to enhance their ability to plan for the future. Over 55 vendors will be at the fair sharing free information about senior living options, financial planning, senior moving services, funeral pre-planning, insurance and personal care services. City staff will also be on hand with fire safety tips (Plano Fire-Rescue) and personal safety tips (Plano Police). Those who attend the Senior Information and Wellness Fair will receive free chair massages, and free screenings for hearing, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, depression and fall-prevention. Lots of door prizes!
Encourage the older people in your life to attend the Senior Fair and to always be engaged! It’s free and open to everyone. For more information call 972-941-7155.
