Take Advantage of Plano’s Tuition Assistance Program

Tuition Assistance Program

Raise a hand if you want help paying for a continuing education dream. There are funds in the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to subsidize the cost of college-level courses for full-time employees. This City benefit only covers tuition expenses for approved degree plans.

To qualify for this assistance, applicants must show the classes meet one or more of these criteria:

  • Prepares for a promotion within the City
  • Helps with career development related to City functions
  • Relates to current job duties
  • Provides knowledge and skills to enhance job performance

TAP funds applied for now must be used for qualifying courses completed between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021. Employees can receive up to $3,000 annually, as long as the approved degree plan is from a regionally-accredited college or university.

The application deadline is June 12 by 5 p.m. Send required documents electronically to Khealy@plano.gov:Tuition Assistance 2020-21

Tuition assistance will be given until the budgeted funds are exhausted, so submit your applications soon. Contact Kathy Healy at 972-941-7437 or Debbie Speed at 972-941-7217 in Human Resources for more information – or visit the webpage.
