Your life may depend on the new information signs recently added to paths along Chisholm Trail. Plano is conducting a “test run” of an emergency marker system to help first responders find patrons quicker when they are on a trail.
Telling a 9-1-1 dispatcher precisely where you are in an “open space” (with no set address) is problematic – especially when seconds count. The markers pinpoint your exact location during an emergency in public open spaces.
These signs are visibly placed every 1/3 of a mile along the Chisholm Trail for this pilot program. The numbers and letters on the markers indicate the name of the park for the call-taker, as well as which block you’re in and the direction you’re headed. Read more in the Trail Marker FAQs and see a Map of the test site.
