Improve Emergency Response Time with Plano’s Smart911

Smart911 WEB

One of the biggest issues with calling 9-1-1 from a cell phone is dispatchers can’t see exact locations on screen. Plano’s new Smart911 platform will help to provide a better location. With this service, residents now have the option of linking their cell phone number with critical information that:

  • Improves emergency response time because dispatchers have more accurate locations
  • Improves the level of care provided because EMTs, fire and police have details about you before arriving on scene

By signing up for Smart911 and creating a safety profile, first responders can know about existing medical conditions and other pertinent info. Plano Police Officer Christopher Bianez explains the benefits of using this new public safety tool in his latest episode of “Safety Minute:”

Bad things don’t always happen when you’re near a landline phone. Opting into Smart911, you determine what kinds of personal info is on file for call-takers to see during an emergency call.

Residents can sign up for free by visiting or download the app.
