City Tackles Seniors’ Loneliness – No Swiping Right Required

Senior Care Call

Early reports made it clear older persons are more vulnerable to COVID-19 and are highly encouraged to STAY HOME. For a great many seniors, this prolonged period of isolation can be devastatingly lonely! While it doesn’t provide opportunities for companionship like a dating app can, Plano’s new Senior Care Call is a really good solution to elder loneliness.

This service is provided for free to all seniors who sign up to be on the list to receive bi-weekly telephone contact.

To register, fill out a short online form (name, zip code and phone number) and click “submit.”

When City staff members check-in with a senior, it’s to find out how the person is doing and to answer questions about a variety of concerns – including community resources. Our elder population can also contact the call center at 972-941-5922 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.), if the need arises.

IMPORTANT:  If someone calls claiming to be with the City of Plano and asks for personal financial information or asks to enter your home, hang up and call the Plano Police Department non-emergency number at 972-424-5678.
