Lower temperatures in North Texas generally mean it’s time to reduce outdoor watering to once a week. As of November 1, Plano’s Winter Watering Guidelines go into effect for residents. Once-a-week watering is a proactive way to “conserve and protect” the City’s water supply.
During the winter watering season, November 1 to March 31, customers are encouraged to turn automatic sprinkler systems off and only water as needed. During this period, water your lawn based on the last digit of your home address. Physical addresses ending in an odd number water on Tuesdays, while addresses ending with an even number water on Thursdays.
Run sprinklers between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on your designated day to reduce the risk of nighttime freezing on sidewalks and roadways. Hand watering is also allowed for two hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on any day.
