Police Chief Greg Rushin Named Deputy City Manager

Greg Rushin WEB

City Manager Mark Israelson shared budget info at last week’s “Meet the CM” and other news. Greg W. Rushin is our new Deputy City Manager. Police Chief Rushin had been pulling double-duty since May – serving as interim deputy city manager, as well as leading the police department.

The 34-year Team Plano member has served as police chief since 2001. He said, “It’s been an honor to serve the community as police chief. We have a department that is a model for law enforcement agencies across the country.”

When he assumes the new position full-time on September 30, Rushin will head the City’s public safety departments, which includes fire-rescue, police, public safety communications, emergency management and animal services. He’ll also oversee the national search for a new police chief starting in October and is “confident the tradition of excellence will continue under the direction of the new chief.”

Rushin’s illustrious career began as a deputy sheriff in Illinois. With over 40 years of serving at the city, county and federal levels, he adds, “I’m looking forward to this exciting new role and the many challenges ahead.”

Congratulations!
