Human Resources administers the City’s Tuition Assistance Program. Have you considered furthering your education? You’re in luck, because the Tuition Assistance Program reimburses you (up to $3,000) for completing any degree courses related to City jobs. The application process is now open. You have roughly six weeks to get your paperwork submitted for the financial aid.
All full-time employees who have completed the City’s probationary period can apply for help to pay for college courses. You may apply for up to $3,000 in tuition reimbursement for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
Money from this program can only be used for associate, bachelor, master or doctorate level classes offered through accredited colleges and universities. You cannot use this money to pay for job-related seminars, workshops, certifications or other short-term courses. Read City of Plano Policy 208.000 to see if you and your degree plan meet eligibility requirements.
Bear in mind, the Tuition Assistance Program is not a bottomless barrel of cash. This financial support is given to qualifying employees until the money set aside is gone. Don’t wait too long before you apply.
Friday, May 24 is the deadline to submit your application and degree plan for classes taken between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020. Contact the Human Resources Training Team (Teresa Exley and Debbie Speed) at 972-941-7115.
