Ron Moore knows all about emergencies and shares that insight regularly through “Ready with Ron” videos. He’s the City’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) coordinator armed with a wealth of knowledge to help safeguard your family…your property…and your pets.
“Ready with Ron” is a short video series produced to offer emergency preparedness tips to residents. He chooses topics designed to make viewers think "What would I do if_____" happens. The fast-paced segments usually run for less than three minutes.
“Real world emergencies are shown in each video which make the topics relatable to Plano residents. My aim is to make our City as prepared as possible for any number of dangerous scenarios – tornados, downed electrical wires, power outages, etc.,” he said of the program.
Ron knows so much about how to keep people safe because he’s been a firefighter/EMT for Prosper Fire Rescue and retired as a division chief for McKinney. Coming out of retirement, he worked as training manager for Plano Fire-Rescue before taking on the CERT coordinator job. Ron has lived in Plano for 26 years and cares about our City.
New videos are posted at least twice a month on Emergency Management’s website and Facebook page.
Working with the Communications and Community Outreach department, Ron selects the material to cover, where to shoot the videos and supplies the script. He welcomes topic suggestions from residents and viewers too. “We all have different 'What if' questions. Answering one person’s question is likely to get many others better prepared if disaster strikes,” he added.
It’s storm season in North Texas and there are important things you and your family should know. Listen as Ron talks about Outdoor Warning Sirens in a recent installment of “Ready with Ron.” Other topics are covered in his intuitive videos – check them out.
