Holiday fitness tips

A lack of quality sleep increases your chances of holiday weight gain and disrupts your fitness routine. To maintain your sleep schedule during the holidays:

  • Stick to your normal sleep routine. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day (even on weekends!). Staying consistent helps to reinforce your sleep-wake cycle.
  • Avoid eating within two hours of bedtime. If you're hungry, have a light snack like fresh fruit or granola.
  • Keep your mind calm and anxiety-free at bedtime. Try a relaxation technique before bed, progressive muscle relaxation, yoga or deep breathing are great!
  • Get plenty of physical activity. Being active during the day reduces levels of stress hormones and can promote a deeper sleep.
